Baby photos pile up on phones and rarely get printed. Yet a photo gallery wall is one of the most personal and moving decor elements you can create for a nursery. Here's how to design one.

Which layout to choose

The symmetrical grid 3×3 identical frames, regular 5cm spacing. Clean, modern effect. Ideal with IKEA RIBBA frames.

The asymmetrical gallery Mix sizes (small, medium, large), orientations (portrait/landscape), and frames (natural wood, white, gold). Lay frames on the floor before hanging to find the composition.

The horizontal line 5 frames aligned in a single horizontal row, above the desk or changing table. Simple and elegant.

The vertical cascade Decreasing-size frames in a column, largest at top to smallest at bottom. Perfect for a narrow wall.

Which photos to print

Chronological theme:

  1. Ultrasound (baby's first photo)
  2. First moments (delivery room)
  3. Coming home
  4. 1 month / 3 months / 6 months / 1 year
  5. Everyday moments (bath, feeding, cuddles)

"Hands and feet" theme: Close-up photos of baby's hands and feet at different stages. Complement with real plaster or ink handprints (see empreintes-bebe category).

"Letters of the name" theme: One photo per letter of the first name — each photo illustrates something starting with that letter. Original and unique.

Personalizing the frames

Painting a RIBBA frame: The white frame paints easily with acrylic. Try powder pink, soft terracotta, or sage green to coordinate with the nursery.

Adding a caption: Glue under each photo a kraft label with: name + age in weeks/months. Handwritten for authenticity.

Collector frame: In a larger frame (40×50), create a collage: central photo + small photos in a wreath + handprint + a few words ("3.2 kg — our most beautiful project").

How to print your photos

  • Snapfish / Cheerz / Photobox: excellent quality, home delivery
  • IKEA online: square format for Sannahed frames
  • Smartphone app: VSCO or Lightroom to harmonize tones before printing
  • Recommended format: 15×15 square to facilitate mixed composition
